The following is a guest post from Reginald George Heading - South Australian Local Hero 2017 - read about George here
Receiving the SA Local Hero Award enabled me to relate the message of how important Agriculture / Food Production is to the Local and Global communities.
Adelaide University indicated early this year that there is a shortage of Agricultural Graduates, for each Graduate there are 5 or 6 positions waiting to be filled.
My community and farming experiences local and internationally indicates a career in Agriculture can be satisfying and interesting .
By relating some of my experiences I hope students will be encouraged to look at Agriculture as their Career.
The South Australian Award " Local Hero 2017 " gave my wife Betty and Myself the opportunity to meet , share experiences and listen to the many stories of the 32 recipients in Canberra.
The welcome by the Australian Day Awards Staff, enjoying the functions and events were all memorable occasions
Receiving an upgrade from Cattle Class by Qantas for our return flight was kindly accepted.
he post luncheon at the Crown Plaza, the dinner at Government House with his Excellency The Governor of South Australia the Honourable Hieu Van Lan Le Ac and Mrs Lan Le, have also been highlights.
