Dr Griggs is as passionate about teaching the unique skills of his craft as he is about using them. As a world-renowned authority and expert in trauma medicine, Dr Griggs is one of Australia’s leading intensive care anaesthetics, who has worked as an aeromedical retrieval and is the inventor of the ‘Griggs Kit’, an artificial airway known world-wide and contributing to the saving of many lives.
Dr Griggs has been deployed on numerous occasions as both a Royal Australian Air Force reservist and a civilian to disaster zones and hostile environments, including the immediate aftermath of the Boxing Day Tsunami and the consequences of the Bali bombings.
Dr Griggs also has strong interests in aviation/aerospace medicine and in injury prevention. Since 2004 he has been involved in the development of the “Roads2Survival” young driver road safety program.
In 2006, Dr Griggs was awarded the prestigious South Australian of the Year Award and through his career as a doctor, rescuer and human being, he has given people compassion, hope and empathy in even the most tragic of circumstances.
